Reaching Hydra with the flying dolphin we pass by Mandraki, the last cove before the port of Hydra.

Mandraki was the old war port of the island, where its entrance was guarded by two small castles full of cannons. Today the visitor can see the remains of these two castles.

Mandraki is a small cove with a beautiful sandy beach, unique in Hydra and without pebbles. You can reach Mandraki by walking about 25 minutes from the harbor of Hydra as well as by sea taxis that take you to Mandraki in 3 minutes. You can also go by boats in 8 minutes, but they have schedules every half an hour.

Mandraki is a very quiet area for relaxing and family vacations in front of the beach. It has an organized sandy beach suitable for sea games and sports, with shallow water, ideal for young children.

In Mandraki there is Villa Mandraki with apartments for rent and a very picturesque tavern, all above the sea.
